MANILA, Philippines – A new tropical depresssion named “Chedeng” is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Saturday.
According to PAGASA weather forecaster Aldzar Aurelio, the new weather disturbance is still over the Pacific Ocean and is moving at a very slow pace.
If the tropical depression continues to track the same direction and enters PAR, it is expected to first hit east of Mindanao.
Aurelio said there is a big chance that the weather disturbance wiill further intensify since it is still over water.
Meanwhile, Aurelio explained that an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will continue to pour scattered rains in Metro Manila.
Aurelio said because of the ITCZ, northern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will continue to experience cloudy with warm skies, scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Furthermore, the rest of Luzon will have moderate to frequent rains with isolated thunderstorms also brought by the cold front.
Metro Manila is expected to experience a temperature between 25 to 36 degrees Celsius. -- DZMM
