MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard is investigating two roll on, roll off (RORO) vessel companies over the death of a 12-year-old boy last Saturday in Bacolod City.

A RORO vessel collided with the fishing boat of Victor Repuelea, who was with his son, Marklyn, near the Bredco Port.

When Repuelea regained consciousness, he could no longer find his son.

The boy's body was recovered on Monday afternoon near the shore of Guimaras Straight.

Lt. Commander Ramil Palabrica, head of the PCG-Bacolod, said they are still trying to determine which RORO vessel collided with the victims' fishing boat.

Although fishing is not allowed on Bredco Port as this is the route used by RORO vessels, the PCG said that they will still hold responsible the shipping company for the boy's death. - report from Meneil Lopez, ABS-CBN News
