LA UNION -- Two old bombs were unearthed in a drainage construction site in Barangay Poblacion East in Rosario, La Union.

According to construction workers, they noticed that the soil was rusty, and were surprised when they found two old bombs buried under the soil.

Residents believe Japanese soldiers stayed in the area during the Second World War, and it is possible that they were the ones who buried the bombs.

Based on investigation by the Explosives and Ordinance Division of the Police Regional Office in Region I, the bombs are 115 millimeter projectiles and may still explode if not handled correctly.

The bombs will be brought to Tarlac where they will be detonated. -- report from Ada Sibayan, ABS-CBN News North Luzon
