MANILA (UPDATED) - A 6.3 magnitude quake struck 49 kilometers southwest of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at 6:16 p.m at a depth of 10 kilometers.
In its latest update, Phivolcs said damage and aftershocks are expected.
The tremor was felt at Intensity V in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
It was felt at Intensity IV in Iloilo City; Bago City; Pandan, Antique; Basay, Negros Occidental; Sipalay, Negros Occidental; Binalbagan, Negros Occidental; Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
Meanwhile, Intensity III was felt in Roxas City; Bais City; La Carlota City; Zamboanga City; Lapulapu City; Cebu City; La Castillana, Negros Occidental; Bacolod City; Dumaguete City; Jagna, Bohol; Oton, Iloilo; Tayasan, Negros Oriental.; Jimalalud, Negros Or.; Ayungon, Negros Oriental; Sibulan, Negros Oriental and Dipolog City.
Intensity II also was felt in San Jose, Antique; Sibalom, Antique; and Pagadian City, while Intensity I was felt in Masbate City; Kalibo, Aklan; Labason, Zamboanga del Norte; Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte and Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.
