ILOCOS SUR -- Ryan Luis Singson has been proclaimed as Ilocos Sur's new governor, succeeding his father Luis "Chavit" Singson.

Ryan, a representative of the 1st district of Ilocos Sur, beat Tagudin (Ilocos Sur) Mayor Roque Versoza by more than a thousand votes.

Meanwhile, Ryan's brother Ronald was proclaimed as the new Ilocos Sur representative (1st district), the post the latter once left after being arrested in Hong Kong for possession of illegal drugs.

Ronald thanked the voters for giving him another chance to serve in government and added he is willing to undergo tests to prove he is not using any illegal drugs.

Aside from Chavit's two sons, 13 more Singson candidates have been proclaimed winners in various government positions in the province. -- from a report by Bryan Realgo, ABS-CBN News Northern Luzon
