MANILA, Philippines -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) board of canvassers proclaimed the winners for local races in Agusan del Norte and Butuan City Tuesday night.
Reelectionist Ferdinand Amante Jr., who ran under the Liberal Party, was proclaimed Butuan City mayor around 6:45 p.m.
Amante defeated Lakas bet Butuan 1st District Representative Jose Aquino II with a margin of over 23,000 votes.
Independent candidate Boy Daku Cublan only garnered over 300 votes.
Lawyer Lawrence Fortun, who is also a Liberal Party candidate, beat former Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) President Roan Libarios, who ran under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), in the Agusan del Norte 1st district congressional race.
