Alleged NPA leader arrested in Davao
MANILA - An alleged leader of the New People's Army (NPA) communist group was arrested while he was island-hopping in Davao City, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Wednesday.
Capt. Alberto Caber, spokesperson of the AFP's Eastern Mindanao Command, identified the suspect as Roy Erecre alias "Toto" and "Basyo."
Erecre is allegedly the secretary of the rebel group's Central Visayas Regional Committee.
Also arrested was Erecre's girlfriend, who was identified only as Judith.
Erecre, who is accused of killing two Army officials in Carmen, Bohol in 1999, has a P5.4-million bounty on his head. -- Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
