MANILA, Philippines – Iligan City officials have raised a bounty against the perpetrators in the bombing in the city last Saturday night.
Vice Mayor Henry Dy said Mayor Lawrence Cruz and Rep. Vicente Belmonte have put up P300,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest of the people behind the blast that killed two people and injured at least 24 others.
On May 5, an M67 grenade was lobbed in front of a Western Union money transfer branch and El Centro KTV bar along Roxas Avenue around 7:45 p.m., hitting the victims that were mostly bystanders.
Officials initially reported that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device, fueling talks that it was terrorism-related.
However, Philippine Army 103rd Brigade commander Col. Daniel Lucero said they are inclined to believe that the attack is only a “petty crime.” – with a report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
