MANILA, Philippines – Another suspect in the murder of broadcast journalist and environmentalist Gerry Ortega is now in the hands of authorities.

In a statement, Ortega’s daughter Mika said the arrest of Valentin “Percival” Lecias “gives our family some relief and much hope that the wanted fugitives – ex-governor Joel Reyes and Mayor Mario Reses-- will soon be apprehended.”

Lecias is the alleged buyer of the gun that was used to kill Ortega. The gun originally belonged to Romeo Seratubias, who was earlier apprehended by authorities.

Lecias was allegedly the official photographer of Palawan Vice Governor Clara Reyes, the wife of the former governor.

“As we continue our campaign for the arrest of the Reyes brothers, another personality has contacted our family expressing intention to donate to the bounty this coming week. Although we don't know how much yet, we are very grateful for the individuals and groups who are taking the initiative in helping our family find justice,” Mika said.

The reward money for the Reyes brothers currently stands at P1.55 million.

“We will not stop fighting for justice until the day the guilty behind the murder of my father are punished accordingly,” she said.
