Tear gas canister explodes at Antipolo mayor's campaign HQ
MANILA, Philippines - A grenade, a tear gas canister and three Molotov bombs were thrown yesterday at the campaign headquarters of Antipolo City Mayor Nilo Leyble.
But only the gas canister exploded and nobody was hurt in the incident, said Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan, Rizal police director.
A bomb expert, SPO2 Rudy Sabellero, retrieved the unexploded grenade, Molotov bombs and other evidence and brought them to the crime laboratory for physical examination.
Anduyan said Leyble’s campaign headquarters at the RMC compound in Barangay San Luis is surrounded by a high fence and nobody saw who lobbed the explosives.
Leyble condemned the incident which came two days after the shooting of one of his supporters, Dick Tadeo, during the fiesta celebration of Barangay Cupang.
