MANILA, Philippines – The situation at the Iloilo Airport is back to normal after all of its flights were cancelled Tuesday evening due to a power outage.
Airport authorities said electricity was restored at around 9 p.m. after the airport’s uninterrupted power supply (UPS) burned down.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines manager in Iloilo Efren Nagrama said the lack of power caused runway lights and other airport equipment to stop functioning.
The runway reportedly began accommodating arriving planes at around 5:45 a.m.
The first departing flight, an AirPhil Express flight bound for Manila, left at 6:40 a.m.
Meanwhile, airlines said they had prepared special flights to accommodate stranded passengers.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. – report from Jenel Baclay, ABS-CBN News Iloilo
