MANILA, Philippines – A retired police officer has been accused of hacking his 8-year-old daughter outside their home in Barangay Caaoacan in Laoag City.

The suspect was identified as SPO2 Petronillo Andres.

The daughter of the suspect survived the assault and sustained a wound under her eye.

According to the ex-cop’s wife Ermilinda, her husband threatened to kill her with a bolo knife during an argument, prompting her to run away with her daughter.

Andres then allegedly chased after them and tried to hack his wife but he inadvertently hit his daughter.

His daughter has been released from the hospital after receiving treatment.

Ermilinda, meanwhile, said she will file charges against her husband.

Andres denied the allegations against him. -- Report from Diane Dy, ABS-CBN News Ilocos
