MANILA – A magnitude 5.4 quake struck off Ilocos Norte on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quake's epicenter was located 169 kilometers northwest of Burgos town.
The quake struck at 8:43 a.m.
Intensity II was felt in Laoag City.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at a depth of 34 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the quake will not cause damage but is expected to produce aftershocks.
