1 dead, 4 wounded in Batangas shooting incident

Batangas - A 26-year-old male was shot dead while four others were wounded when two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle shot them in Lipa City early Sunday morning, police said.

Senior Superintendent Rosauro Acio, Batangas police director, identified the fatality as Ronnie Catindig, a factory worker and a resident of Purok 1, Bgy Mabini, Lipa City.

Wounded were identified as: Ramilito Eguia Jr., 23; Lester Liwanag, 17; Darwin Icaro,19; and Dondon de Silva, 23. All are residents of said barangay.

According to police report, the victims were having a drinking session together with other friends, Jeffrey Silva and Marlon Lupig, in a sari-sari store when two motorcycle-riding men arrived around 12:30 a.m.

Sans any provocation, the duo fired at the group with a caliber. 45 pistol.

After the shooting, the assailants fled towards the city proper. They were tailed by two other motorcycle-riding men, believed to be companions of the gunmen.

Four victims were then brought to Mary Mediatix Hospital, while another one was brought to Lipa District Hospital by their respective relatives

Three spent shells and three deformed slugs were recovered at the crime scene.

Police have yet to determine the motive of the shooting while manhunt operation against the suspects was ordered for their arrest.
