6 dead as bus overturns in Zamboanga del Sur

ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR -- Six people died after a bus overturned in Purok 1, Barangay Anonang, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur 12:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The RTMI bus, bound for Cagayan de Oro City, came from Pagadian City. There were no more than 30 passengers on board the bus.

According to the report from the Aurora Municipal Police Station, the bus overturned on a curved part of the highway in Barangay Anonang.

Aurora Municipal Police Station Chief Investigator SPO3 Erwin Vasaylaje identified the victims as Kent Jhon Lachica, 7; Jorelyn Lachica, 14; and Clenie Chiarra Lachica, 16. All of them died on the spot.

Three other passengers - Lilia Billetes; Jhecyl Malaubang Nicdao, 2; and Revin John Languyan, 3 months - were declared on arrival at the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital in Lanao del Norte.

Fifteen other passengers were brought to the hospital for treatment.

The bus driver, Biato Dumpa, Jr., is currently under the custody of the Aurora Municipal Police Station. He will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and physical injuries. -- report from Ronnie Enderes, ABS-CBN News Iligan
