MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III and Vice President Jejomar Binay on Friday led the turnover of homes to survivors of tropical storm “Sendong" in Cagayan de Oro City.

More than 1,000 houses established with the help of Habitat for Humanity, city government of Cagayan de Oro, and the Filipino-Chinese community were awarded to the affected families.

The first batch of beneficiaries was also given family starter kits and food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

They were also provided with livelihood assistance to help them in income-generating activities.

More than 8,000 houses will be provided for Sendong survivors.

The homes are expected to be ready by August. -- Report from PJ dela Peña, ABS-CBN News
