ILOILO, Philippines – A carnival truck headed to Iloilo fell off a ravine early Tuesday, leaving 15 people injured.

Investigators said the truck swerved out of control as it was making a turn in Sitio Luy-An, Barangay Pitogo in San Joaquin.

“Sa rough road pa lang, mabilis na ang pagpapatakbo niya. Nakaiwas pa siya sa likuang bahagi ng daan, pero dito hindi na siya nakaiwas. Parang nawalan siya ng preno,” said Renato Quirino, one of the injured passengers.

The truck broke through the highway railings and fell into a ravine, injuring 14 passengers and the driver identified as Francisco Lerio. They were brought to Iloilo City Hospital to receive treatment.

The truck hit a tree on its way down, stopping further descent into the ravine.

The truck carried carnival equipment such as ferris wheel parts and a roulette wheel.

The 14 injured were identified as Ford Gayoma, Christian Ticao, Ma. Lourdes Bermudez, Joemar Iglesia, Russel Bronto, Johen Maneloy, Stephen Junco, Joervin Valenzuela, Moises Jungco, Ritchel Dupit, Edwin Villaguwas, Christine Gayoma, Renato Quirino, and John Rey Manalo. -- Report from Kenneth Ladigohon, ABS-CBN Iloilo
