MANILA – A 57-year-old Chinese national drowned at a beach front in Boracay Island in Aklan, police said Friday.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr., regional police director of Western Visayas, said the victim, Wu Yong, was swimming with two others in front of Nigi Nigi Nu Noos Beach Resort when he drowned.

Lifeguards were able to bring him out of the water, but he was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

The victim was a resident of Shandong, China.
