BACOLOD -- Fire razed around 100 houses in Purok San Mateo, Katilingban and Kawayan in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City on Wednesday.
The fire started at around 12 noon and was declared out at around 2 p.m.
Firefighters had a hard time getting to the area because of the narrow streets.
Residents were seen crying and running while evacuating their houses.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also had to seek help from firefighters in neighboring towns and cities since an oil depot is located just 100 meters away from the area.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
Affected residents will temporarily ssek shelter at the Domingo Lacson National High School.
