MANILA – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended 42 units of Victory Liner and 19 units of A. Bragais Liner following two separate fatal accidents.
The LTFRB ordered the suspension for 30 days of 19 units of A. Bragais Liner after one of its buses figured in an accident in Libmanan, Camarines Sur and left 5 people dead and 15 wounded on Holy Wednesday.
The passenger bus crashed into a stalled 10-wheeler truck along a national highway in Barangay Bikal at around 4 a.m.
The fatalities were identified as Arnely Dacullo and his 2-year-old son Kevin, residents of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan; Alexander Belen of Bagacay, Albay; Jayson Purita of Tabaco, Albay; and Cindy Garcia of Marikina City.
The LTFRB said the 30-day preventive suspension for Victory Liner, on the other hand, covers 42 units plying the Sta Cruz, Zambales-Manila route.
The suspension order was issued after a woman died and at least 43 passengers were wounded when a Victory Liner bus fell off a shallow ravine in Purok 12, Barangay Old Cabalan on Monday.
An unidentified female bystander died after being hit by the bus. After hitting the woman, the bus veered off the road and then tumbled into a 3-meter deep ravine.
Initial police investigation showed that the bus' brakes failed and the driver lost control of the vehicle. – with ANC
