MANILA -- Thirty-one people died while 123 others were injured in separate accidents in different provinces during the Holy Week, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.
Most of the victims were involved in vehicular accidents. Some victims drowned, while others were involved in shooting incidents.
Four people died and 63 others were injured in Region I, including 54 passengers of a truck involved in an accident in the town of Bani in Pangasinan.
Six people drowned in separate incidents in Region II, while a man died in a shooting incident in Isabela.
A 10-year-old boy also died in a vehicular accident in Cagayan. Two other men were injured in the same incident.
A total of 11 deaths were reported in Region IV-A, while 8 others were hurt in separate vehicular accidents. Sixteen people were injured after exposure to hazardous materials in Nasugbu, Batangas.
Seven people were hurt, and 5 others died in a bus crash in Camarines Sur.
Five people were injured, and another died in separate vehicular accidents in Misamis Oriental.
Three were hurt in separate vehicular accidents in Kalinga and Baguio City.
A 30-year-old man and an 8-year-old girl died in separate drowning incidents in Kalinga and Tabuk City.
