BATANGAS – A man carrying his 7-month-old daughter was shot dead by an unidentified suspect in Lipa City on Good Friday, police said.
Supt. Jacinto Malinao, Lipa police chief, identified the fatality as Ferdinand Dimaandal of Barangay Sabang, Lipa City. His daughter, Ashley Joy, was wounded in the incident.
Reports said Dimaandal and his baby were inside their house when a gunman appeared and shot the victims repeatedly.
Dimaandal died on the spot while the baby, hit with a stray bullet, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to Malinao, initial investigation revealed that Dimaandal was living with a woman whose former husband is a convict.
"Persistent ang threat sa babae from her husband who is now presently serving a sentence sa bilibid for murder," Malinao said.
Malinao said they are also looking for the convicted husband’s former cellmate, who is now out of jail and could have possibly had a hand in the shooting.
Meanwhile, Ashley is now out of danger and recuperating at the hospital.
