ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Firefighters in Zamboanga City are on alert even if it's Holy Week.

At about 1 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, firetrucks proceeded to Tumaga Presa Mayor after receiving information that a vacant lot was on fire.

Three firetrucks were dispatched to the area and immediately put out the fire.

No one was hurt and no properties were damaged in the incident.

Earlier on Thursday, a bush fire occurred in Barangay Talisayan, prompting the Bureau of Fire Protection to remind the public to properly dispose their cigarette butts.

Fire superintendent Dominador Zabala said bushes are quick to catch a fire considering the fairly hot weather Zamboanga City has been experiencing in the past few days. -- Report from Queenie Casimiro, ABS-CBN News Zamboanga
