MANILA (UPDATE) – Five people died and at least 15 others were wounded in a vehicular accident in Libmanan, Camarines Sur before dawn on Wednesday, police said.
Libmanan Police said an A. Bragais Liner bus (EVP 126), which came from Manila and was bound for Catanduanes, crashed into a stalled 10-wheeler truck (TGC 353) along a national highway in Barangay Bikal at around 4 a.m.
The fatalities were identified as Arnely Dacullo and his 2-year-old son Kevin, residents of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan; Alexander Belen of Bagacay, Albay; Jayson Purita of Tabaco, Albay; and Cindy Garcia of Marikina City.
Police said the remains of the fatalities were already brought to Dondon Funeral Homes in Libmanan.
The 15 injured passengers, meanwhile, were rushed to Bicol Medical Center in Naga City and Sipocot District Hospital.
Bus driver Joey Bermas of Caloocan City and truck driver Michael Chua have already been placed under police custody.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News Bicol, Bermas blamed the incident on the lack of an early warning device.
Bermas also disclosed that before the crash in Libmanan, his bus also hit a tricycle in Quezon province. – report from Noel Alamar, dzMM; and Mylce Mella, ABS-CBN News Bicol
