CAGAYAN – Suspected members of the New People’s Army allegedly burned down some equipment and parts of the Apex Mining Company Incorporated in Maco, Compostela Valley on Friday.

The management of the firm confirmed that three of their working stations were attacked by armed men in Barangay Teresa, Maco, Compostela Valley.

In a report to the Compostela Provincial Police Public Safety Company, the suspected rebels confiscated the company’s communications gear and disarmed security guards before burning down the equipment.

"Nabigla kami na simultaneous nila sinunog lahat," Renne Subido, assistant resident manager of the firm, said.

Insp. Ronila Teman, team leader of the PPSC, said they are now investigating the incident.

"Mahirap mag-investigate sa area, di pa natin ma-validate kung may na-receive na letter," Teman said.

But Subido said they have not received any letter from the rebels.

"Wala kaming natanggap na extortion letter sa kanila," he said.

Apex Mining reported to police that aside from the equipment, also burned down were the motorpool area, Level 4 office, area of Barabadan, Maligaya area, and area of Level 840.
