MANILA -- The manhunt operation against the gunman in the ambush of tabloid reporter Rubylita Garcia is still ongoing, police said.

The Cavite Special Investigation Task Group Garcia is still searching for the suspect who was said to have a tattoo of a cross on the right neck.

The gunman was described as 6-foot tall, about 32 years old, and has fair complexion. He wore a cap during the ambush.

On Tuesday, a man identified as Aaron Cruz, whose features fit the description of the gunman who killed Garcia, was arrested by police during a buy-bust operation in Cavite City.

However, witnesses in the crime said Cruz was not the gunman they saw on the night of the killing.

Police said the reward for anyone who could give information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect has been raised from P100,000 to P150,000.

The additional P50,000 came from the Alab ng Mamamahayag (ALAM).

The group conducted an indignation rally at the Cavite police headquarters, protesting the slow pace of their investigation into Garcia's case.

The Cavite police, for their part, assured that Garcia's case is under tight watch.
