MANILA -- A Palace official on Monday said law enforcement personnel already have a facial composite of the man who shot dead journalist Rubylita Garcia on Sunday.

"Investigator on case was able to produce an artist’s sketch through the statement of a lone witness whose identity we will keep confidential. A dedicated tracker team was organized and conducting follow-up operations against the suspect," Lacierda said, reading a text message from Philippine National Police spokesperson Reuben Theodore Sindac.

Lacierda also vowed justice for Garcia as he extended the Palace's sympathies to her family.

"We extend our condolences to the family of the late Rubylita Garcia and we promise that we will pursue this heinous death of… Tracker teams are already in place to look for the suspect," he said.

Garcia is the 20th Filipino journalist killed since President Bengino Aquino III took office in 2010 and the 160th since 1986, when democracy was restored in the Philippines, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines said.

In February, the Philippines was listed as the third most dangerous place for journalist in the world following Syria and Iraq by the International News Safety Institute.
