MANILA -- The Cavite police have identified the gunman in the ambush of a tabloid reporter in front of her residence in Barangay 7, Bacoor, Cavite.
Rubylita Garcia, 52, a reporter and columnist of tabloid Remate, sustained 5 gunshot wounds in her body.
She was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The gunman was described to be slim, about 6-foot tall, about 32 years old, "moreno" or dark-skinned. He wore a surgical mask during the ambush.
Police are looking at possible personal and work-related motives behind the killing.
A total of P100,000 bounty has been offered by the Cavite government for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Police are searching their rouge galleries for the gunman who is allegedly a hired killer.
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) said Garcia is the 20th journalist killed under the Aquino administration.
