MANILA, Philippines – Kidnappers struck again in Zamboanga City, this time snatching live-in partners who were engaged in buying-and-selling of marine products.

Nancy Gonato, 32, and her live-in partner, San Dagon, 50, were reportedly abducted by five armed men at their rented house in the Baliwasan seaside early Sunday morning.

Initial investigations showed that the suspects posed as lobster sellers, prompting a helper to open the door of the house.

The kidnappers immediately took the victims and escaped on board a motorized pumpboat, heading towards a west coast direction.

In a phone interview, Senior Supt. Edwid de Ocampo, officer-in-charge of the Zamboanga City Police Office, said they have begun to focus on business rivalry as a possible motive behind the alleged abduction.

The police, however, face a blank wall regarding the identity of the suspects, though De Ocampo believes the abduction was not initiated by a kidnap for ransom group.
