PANGASINAN – Guinness World Records on Friday confirmed that the town of Bayambang, Pangasinan now holds the new world record for the longest grill measuring 8.16 kilometers.

It beat Turkey's old record of 6.1 kilometers.

Pangasinan officials and Sen. Bongbong Marcos on Friday kicked off the grilling of 50,000 kilos of tilapia and other freshwater fish in 8,000 metal grills.

"Isang taon ang preparation natin," Mayor Ricardo Camacho said.

Guinness adjudicators, meanwhile, made sure no gaps should be seen in between the fish being grilled.

Residents and grillers, despite the heat, remained positive about their goal.

"Kayang-kaya natin abutin yun sir," Remedios de Vera, a local, said.

Another resident, identified only as Mang Rogelio, said: "Masarap ang isda namin dito."
