MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck off the shore of Surigao del Sur Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was recorded at 12:25 p.m. Its epicenter was located 33 kilometers northeast of Lingig town.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 33 kilometers.
Intensity 3 was felt in Bislig City and Lingig, while Intensity 2 was felt in Butuan City.
No damages or casualties were reported as of posting.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are not expected from the earthquake.
The United States Geological Survey measured the quake at magnitude 5 with the epicenter 29 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
