COTABATO CITY - Authorities in Cotabato City conducted an operation against illegal gambling sites and stalls along Bonifacio Street, Barangay Poblacion 6, Wednesday morning following complaints by some residents.

Two women believed to be "usherettes" of the illegal numbers game "last-two" were nabbed during the operation.

Seized from their possession are stubs of unused receipts, tally sheets, guide tip, other gambling paraphernalia and bet money amounting to P1,700.00.

Cotabato City Police Director PS/Supt. Rolen Balquin said police will continue its campaign against illegal numbers games.

The official said that in the previous operations, they have only arrested "last-two, last-three" ushers but warns the public that they will not hesitate to go after the "big fishes."

"Na-prepresume kasi ang PNP na protector daw kami sa illegal gambling dito. We want to erase their doubts," Balquin said.

Authorities are now ready to file charges against those persons arrested.
