Reds raid army detachment in Bukidnon
MANILA, Philippines – Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked a military detachment in Bukidnon on Monday night.
Colonel Jose Maria Cuerpo, 8th Infantry Battalion Commander, said some 25 suspected communist guerillas raided the detachment of the Special Civilian Active Auxiliary in Barangay Dalwangan, Malaybalay City at around 8 p.m.
Cuerpo said the government troops were able to fire back at the rebels. A grenade was also thrown by the rebels but no one was reported injured from either side.
The firefight lasted for about 15 minutes, but sporadic exchange of fire occurred until 11 p.m. – report from Shiela Labrador, ABS-CBN News
