BULACAN – A former beauty queen and now councilor of Hagonoy, Bulacan has been wounded after a lone gunman shot her near her home in Barangay San Isidro Dos on Tuesday.

The victim, Dianne Cervantes, was rushed to the emergency room of the UST Hospital for treatment, according to reports.

According to initial investigations, Cervantes was on board a motorcycle being driven by staff Romelita Raymundo when shot by a lone gunman.

Cervantes and Raymundo had just come from a series of activities at the municipal hall when the incident happened, police said.

According to reports, it was also raining during the shooting, which served as a cover for the suspect who hid and waited for the victims along a grassy portion of the area.

The suspect fired two shots, which caused the victims’ motorcycle to fall. Wanting to make sure he hit the target, the suspect even approached Cervantes and fired another shot, according to witnesses.

Chief Insp. Ma. Shirlene Tadeo, OIC of the Paombong, Bulacan PNP, said Cervantes had gunshots in her shoulder and nape.

Meanwhile, Raymundo told the police that the suspect was wearing a jacket and did not remove his helmet during the shooting. He then fled from the scene after the incident.

Police have yet to establish the motive behind the shooting.

“Lahat ng anggulo sisilipin natin, kung pulitika o kaaway,” Tadeo said. -- From a report by Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
