CEBU CITY -- An alleged cult leader accused of killing a teenager two years ago and using him as a human offering has been arrested, Cebu police said Wednesday.
The suspect, Casiano Apduhan, was nabbed by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents and police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officers.
His alleged victim, Angelo Refoyla, was killed two years ago and was buried in the basement of Apduhan's house, according to initial investigation.
Armed with a search warrant, the NBI and SWAT raided the suspect's house located in Barangay Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu.
Authorities recovered bones in Apduhan's basement. They also found two handguns and a bolo.
Victor Fajardo, Apduhan's driver, was also arrested
Apduhan denied the allegations, claiming that the teenager died because of a disease and was buried in their house' basement.
The victim's father reported the incident to the authorities after they fled from Apduhan's compound two years ago.
Ema Nepomuceno, 33, was also rescued after she was allegedly detained in Apduhan's house for three years.
Her mother reported the incident to the police.
However, Nepomuceno denied that she was detained, saying that the Apduhan family treated her very well.
A village official said Apduhan is considered by his followers as "Dios Amahan" (God the Father).
Charges are being filed against the suspects. Apduhan's relatives, meanwhile, plan to sue the police and the NBI for allegedly damaging their house.
