3 arrested in Butuan drug raid

BUTUAN CITY -- Three people were arrested during a raid by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Butuan City on Tuesday.

One suspect was identified as Charles Manuel Baltazar, alias Chum-Chum/Champoy, a 34-year-old resident of St. Joseph Subdivision, Barangay Villa Kanangga in Butuan City.

Baltazar is allegedly a member of the "Rene Cabrera Group" operating in the Caraga region, PDEA said in a press statement Thursday.

Armed with a search warrant, PDEA operatives entered Baltazar's house in St. Joseph Subdivision at around 11:00 in the morning.

Recovered from Baltazar's house were 11 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 12.73 grams, and various drug paraphernalia.

Two others identified as Daryl Joseph Canoy, 25; and Ryan Rey Monzor, 27, who were caught in the act of preparing drugs were also arrested during the operation.

The suspects will face illegal drugs charges.
