ZAMBOANGA – A man driven by jealousy took his own live-in partner hostage in the house of his aunt in Barangay Santa Catalina, Zamboanga City on Saturday, reports said.
According to village chief Jimmy Villaflores, the suspect identified as Bonjo Kaliboso had a gun and threatened to shoot his live-in partner.
Responding policemen and barangay officials managed to negotiate with Kaliboso to surrender his gun, but he still refused to get out of the house.
The suspect found another weapon, a knife, to keep his live-in partner hostage inside one of the rooms of his aunt’s house.
As police were planning to barge in the room to rescue the victim, Kaliboso decided to finally surrender to authorities.
He was taken to the barangay hall, but he still resisted arrest. He got wounded in the process, and police rushed him to the hospital for treatment.
According to Kaliboso’s aunt, prior to an argument with his live-in partner because of jealousy, his first wife left him along with their four children. His many problems, she said, may have resulted in the two-hour hostage drama.
The suspect will be facing numerous charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, police said. – Report from RJ Rosalado, ABS-CBN News Zamboanga
