DAVAO CITY – A suspected drug pusher was killed after he tried to fire his gun at Davao police during a buy-bust operation at Barangay 37-D, Mabini in Davao City on Wednesday, reports said.

Authorities identified the fatality as Crisostomo Dejarme, also known as "Boy Labas."

Investigations disclosed that undercover cops tried to transact with Dejarme but the suspect sensed they were policemen, prompting him to take out his gun.

It was at this point that Dejarme was shot by the police.

"Confiscated from the suspect were 15 sachets containing suspected shabu and a .22 caliber gun," Senior Insp. Romeo Mausisa said.

According to city police director Sr. Supt. Vicente Danao Jr., the suspect was the subject of a buy-bust operation 2 times and had been under surveillance for some time.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who went to the scene, talked to residents in the area and warned them against being involved in drug-related crimes.

Duterte also congratulated police for the operation. -- report from Darlene dela Cruz, ABS-CBN News Davao
