MANILA - Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he will not run for President in 2016 even if he is asked by President Aquino himself.

Duterte said not even Aquino can convince him to run for President since his heart is not in it.

He said it would be better that he will not be elected as Chief Executive since he could end up in jail.

"I will take my cue from the President but I will say no to him. I will tell him na hanap na lang kami ng iba. Andaming gwapo sa Maynila," he said.

Instead, Duterte reiterated that he will support the candidate that will be endorsed by President Aquino.

Duterte earlier told his constituents that he does not think that he is fit to become president.

"I appreciate the efforts and the support but I am not running for president," he said.

The "Pilipinas Duterte 2016 Movement," which is spearheaded by barangay captains in Davao, is gathering signatures from residents for a petition urging the mayor to join the presidential race.

The group believes Duterte will become a good president since he has done a lot for Davao City.
