MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a barangay chairman in Quezon Province who is wanted for illegal drugs, authorities said Monday.
The suspect was identified as Victor Vergara Tumagay, a barangay chairman in Plaridel, Quezon.
He also allegedly has a brother who is currently serving as a mayor in the province.
Tumagay was nabbed through an arrest warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
The warrant was served in 2002 but Tumagay was still allowed to run for position in the 2013 elections. -- report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
