NEGROS OCCIDENTAL -- The body of a Korean national, who police said committed suicide, was found inside his room in a resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental Thursday morning.
Police identified the victim as 55-year-old Se In Jang, who had been staying in Mambukal Resort for almost a month.
Jang is separated from his wife. Their two children are reportedly staying in South Korea.
The management of the resort said the victim checked in alone last February 5.
The victim's body, which was already in a stage of decomposition, was discovered by a resort employee on Thursday.
A neck tie was found tied around his neck with the other end tied to the headboard of the bed.
Richard Sadsad, the motorcycle driver hired by Jang during his stay in the resort, said he last saw the victim alive last Sunday.
Police have ruled out foul play in the incident and concluded that the Korean committed suicide.
Police found a letter on Jang's planner but were unable to read it since it is written in Korean.
Police said they will inform the Korean embassy regarding Jang's death.
