Alleged wife of Maguindanao massacre suspect shot
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A woman, allegedly the wife of a suspect in the Maguindanao massacre, was shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Barangay Mother Labu-Labu in Shariff Aguak town, Maguindanao at about 6:45 p.m. Friday.
The victim, identified as businesswoman Noria Abid Mendog, is reportedly the wife of Ben Mendog. Mendog is one of the suspects in the killing of at least 57 persons in Maguindanao in 2009.
Police investigation revealed that the victim was shot while doing laundry in front of her home.
She sustained wounds in her abdomen and leg and was rushed to Maguindanao Provincial Hospital for treatment. She was later transferred to a regional hospital in Cotabato City.
A police investigator said they have yet to identify the motive behind the shooting.
Police are also investigating if the incident has something to do with the victim’s relationship with Mendog.
