COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Residents of Boliao 1, Barangay Mother Poblacion, Cotabato City panicked as fire hit an initial count of fifteen shanties past 9 p.m. Saturday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Cotabato and Filipino-Chinese Fire Volunteers Brigade worked together to shut out the fire.

Authorities declared a fire out at almost 11 p.m.

The houses were all built of light materials that made the fire spread out too fast.

Firemen who responded in the incident found it difficult to enter the area due to road inaccessibility as it is located in a squatters area near the public market.

The BFP is still investigating the incident to find out the cause of fire.

There were no casualties reported.
