MANILA, Philippines – A shootout ensued during an anti-drug operation at the Mindanao State University (MSU) campus in General Santos last week, wounding two persons.

Wounded during the shootout were Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agent Anthony Manigo and suspect Adzmen Abil.

According to PDEA director general Arturo G. Cacdac Jr., the agency's regional office conducted an operation at the MSU gate targeting suspect Midzhar Hadjirul, 36.

Hadjirul, however, resisted arrest and engaged the agents in a shootout.

Mamingo sustained a gunshot wound in the knee, while Abil, Hadjirul's cohort, was shot by the operating team in the right elbow and the leg.

Both were rushed to the General Santos City District Hospital for treatment.

Seized during the operation were a gram of shabu; assorted identification cards; money transfer receipts; a knife; a Nokia cellular phone and a motorcycle, which the suspects allegedly used in their drug transactions.
