MANILA, Philippines – Eight suspects behind a series of robbery incidents in Central Luzon were arrested by authorities in Angeles City, Pampanga Saturday.
The eight men, who were also allegedly involved in gun-for-hire operations, were nabbed by joint forces of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Regional Office 3, Pampanga Criminal Investigation Team and Angeles City Police after trying to rob a house in Barangay Balibago, where a victim was shot in the ear.
The suspects were identified as Mark Anthony Elizalde alias Jason, Joshua Luntao alias Buggy, Solomon Diaz alias Mon, Abraham Desaca alias Russel, Cesar Baldonado, Cesar Baldonado Jr., Jonas Alegria and Ronnie Morneo alias Burnok, who is believed to be the leader of the group.
Recovered from the suspects were four firearms, two grenades, one rifle grenade, bladed weapons and several cellphones.
CIDG Director Police Chief Supt. Francisco Uyami said the robbers were behind the double homicide case in Mariveles, Bataan last July 14, 2012 and the frustrated homicide case of ABS-CBN technical director Crisologo Pangan last February 25, 2012.
CIDG Regional Officer Police Supt. Elmo Francis Rona said the eight suspects are facing charges of robbery with frustrated homicide and charges for violation of the election gun ban. -- Report from Jay Pelayo, dzMM
