DAVAO – Mayor Rodrigo Duterte confirmed on Thursday that authorities were able to intercept a sack of shabu in a rice shipment in the city.

The incident, Duterte said, was that of a “ride-on” in smuggling, where a sack of shabu or illegal drugs may be combined with sacks of imported rice.

"Ang DNA signature, not made in the Philippines… I hate smuggling, the real reason aside from robbing money… Kaya ayaw ko ng smuggling, lagyan mo ng ilang sako ng shabu sa mga sako ng bigas, hindi mo alam," Duterte said in a press conference.

The mayor said he wants a stricter campaign against drugs, saying he is willing to give a reward to anyone who can give information about drug pushers in the province.
