MANILA -- One man died and four others were wounded after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) fell into a ravine in Brgy. Ambassador in Tublay, Benguet on Saturday afternoon.
According to the driver of the SUV, Lito Mirason, he overtook a motorcycle along a rough part of the road. As he was driving fast, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to turn around several times before it fell down a 55-meter ravine.
The driver's brother, Anselmo Mirason, was thrown out of the vehicle. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Four other passengers, identified as Wilson Licuasen, Willy Licuasen, Alex Costino and Dindo Costino, were hurt in the incident. They were immediately brought to Benguet General Hospital for treatment.
Investigators found out that Mirason was driving the vehicle without a license. He was also driving under the influence of alcohol.
The victims said that they will not file charges against Mirason but asked him to pay for their medical expenses. -- report from Ada Sibayan, ABS-CBN News North Luzon
