CebuPac plane skids off Butuan airport runway

MANILA (UPDATED) -- A Cebu Pacific airplane skidded off the runway of Butuan airport on Saturday morning, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.

According to CAAP deputy director general Capt. John Andrews, the A319 plane's nose wheel gear fell on the grassy portion at the end of the runway while taxiing for departure.

The Cebu Pacific flight 5J 220 was bound for Cebu.

All passengers were immediately asked to disembark from the plane with tail number RPC3195.

They will be re-accommodated in the next available flights.

No one from the 105 passengers, 2 pilots and 4 cabin crew was reported injured in the incident, which occurred past 10 a.m.

The CAAP said the runway of Butuan airport will be temporarily closed until 4 p.m. Saturday.

According to Cebu Pacific, the following flights were affected due to the incident:

  • 5J 785/786 Manila-Butuan-Manila
  • 5J 791/792 Manila-Butuan-Manila
  • 5J 223/224 Cebu-Butuan-Cebu

Guests on these flights may avail of any of the following options: free rebooking of flight within 30 days from original departure date; reroute to the nearest alternate airport (Cagayan de Oro or Davao); or full travel fund or refund.
