TALISAY CITY -- Three men were hurt after a car allegedly involved in a drag race hit a van in Talisay City in Negros Occidental early Wednesday morning, police said.

The driver and passengers of the van were injured.

According to driver Joselito Jaen, they were on their way to Bacolod City when a speeding car appeared out of nowhere and went straight for his vehicle.

A bystander said that the car was involved in a drag racing event.

The highway along the boundary of Bacolod City and Talisay City is a popular venue for drag racers.

The car involved is owned by a certain Yanson family, authorities said.

One of the members of the family claimed that they had their vehicle washed and did not know about the accident.

Police are investigating the case.
