4 'acetylene gang' members nabbed

MANILA -- Four alleged "acetylene gang" members accused of robbing a pawnshop in General Santos City were arrested in Matnog, Sorsogon early Tuesday morning.

The suspects were placed under the custody of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) after they were nabbed at the Matnog Port.

The suspects were identified as alias Dabodab, 25, from Ilocos Sur; Rey Alvarez, 22 and John Gayod, 46, both from Baguio City; and Jaime Aquinian, 34, of Cagayan Valley.

They were allegedly involved in a pawnshop robbery in General Santos City last Saturday.

CIDG-Bicol said it received information that the 4 suspects will be at the port.

The police also took custody of the vehicle used by the suspects.

They recovered two grenades, P70,000 cash, cellphones, and other valuable items inside the vehicle.

The suspects denied their involvement in the robbery.
